Postpartum Weight Loss
After having a baby, there are usually a few extra pounds hanging around. Motherhood brings a lot of challenges, and one of them is maintaining your own health, while also caring for an infant. Sleep deprivation becomes a daily state of being and eating healthy is just not on the top of your list. You may resort to grabbing whatever you can on your way by the fridge just to get by. Let’s take a look at some of the other ways you can prevent unhealthy snacking and help get yourself back on track.
Have healthy snacks available that you can grab in a hurry. If you make small containers of cut up fruit and put them in refrigerator, or vegetables and dip, you’ll be more likely to grab that when you are in a hurry than to reach for the open bag of goldfish crackers. Spend one nap time preparing yourself a batch of healthy snacks that you can have available at any time of the day and put them somewhere that you will be able to grab them. Make a variety for eating at home and on-the-go, and you’ll be all set to get your eating back on track. Eat a snack every couple of hours to keep your metabolism going and also so you don’t become extremely hungry and ready to eat the next thing you see.
Plan out your meals for the week ahead of time. This will give you a shopping list of items to pick up at the store, and a plan to stick with during the week. Write it down somewhere in plain sight so that you will be held accountable. There will always be the odd night out where things just don’t work out as planned and you need take out at the last minute. But if you can stick to your plan for the most part, you’ll be able to plan out healthier meals for you and your family.
Take your weight and multiply by ⅔. That is the number of ounces of water that you should be aiming to drink each day. This may seem like a lot, but it will help your body to get rid of the excess water that you are carrying around and will keep you feeling energetic and hydrated. Without the proper amount of water, you will feel sluggish and bloated. If you are nursing, you may have to drink even more water to keep up with production.
